NOAA’S SURFACE MAP FOR SATURDAY MORNING JAN 18

The Polar high that pushed away the cold front and has brought chilling winds on Thursday and again Saturday with a new cold front Friday night. While early morning temperatures may hover close to freezing with frost between the cold fronts in wind-protected areas, sunny skies will cause relatively pleasant afternoons Friday and Sunday.

The Alberta Clippers should give way to a Polar high pressure during the first of next week that will push another cold spell front into the state to cause temperatures to dip near freezing again Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Daytime temperatures should climb no higher than the 50s Wednesday and Thursday. Over the years, this has often been the coldest part of the winter!
