2013-10-03_085854

At 8 AM Thursday, Tropical Storm KAREN was centered about 500 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. It was moving towards the north northwest at 13 mph. With winds of 60 mph, it is likely to become a hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico.

The mostly likely place of landfall would be between Gulfport, MS and Panama City, FL on Saturday. With the storm moving northward, it’s strongest winds will be east of the center making the greatest threat of higher winds on the Florida panhandle side of the storm.
