SOME CHANNEL 4 AREA RAINFALL TOTALS

Atmospheric moisture increased as we entered a month that brings us the June Monsoon. Among the measuring sites, Beauclerc stands out because of being hit by two days of nearly 2 inch downpours prior to Tropical Storm ANDREA’s additional 2 inches on June 6. Craig Field stands out because of a 2 1/2 inch downpour on June 4 prior to ANDREA. Summer thunderstorms can caused torrential downpours in neighborhoods that are not reflected in weather reports. Farmers and gardeners have recognized the importance of having their own rain gauge to really determine how much rain fell on their property.

The Climate Prediction Center’s latest summer outlook indicates that our corner of the nation will be the wettest.
