2013-06-06_070344

The center of tropical storm ANDREA will make landfall tonight in the Big Bend area of the northeast Gulf of Mexico. With the heaviest rains being sheared to the east, northeast Florida and southeast Georgia may expect 4 to 6 inches of rain, with some local amounts up to 8 inches.

ANDREA’s strongest winds, 60 mph in the morning advisory, will be limited to the Gulf side of the state. Tropical storm warnings are in effect from Palm Coast Florida to Cape Charles Light Virginia. Isolated tornadoes will occur from the Florida peninsula into southeast Georgia during the day and evening. Although rains will be ending after midnight, significant flooding will occur thru Friday in flood-prone areas.
