TURNING COLDER HERE, SANDY TO HIT MID-ATLANTIC COAST MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY

When a storm consists entirely of warm air it is called BAROTROPIC. Storms that are energized by the interaction of cold and warm air (frontal) are BAROCLINIC. Having still barotropic energy, SANDY will be getting a kick with baroclinic energy. This can cause it have a much wider impact on the mid-Atlantic/southern New England coast than most hurricanes.[/caption]
