ISAAC’S WINDS WEAKEN, BUT RAINS SPREAD NORTHWARD

At 11 AM Thursday, Tropical Storm ISAAC was centered 25 miles southwest of Monroe, LA. It was moving towards the north northwest at 9 mph with peak winds of 40 mph.

Even though the storm is moving away from the Gulf coast, there is still much flooding due to the combination of onshore Gulf winds, plus rain waters draining into lower areas near the coast.
Update: At 5 PM EDT Thursday, ISAAC was downgraded to a Tropical Depession. It was centered 35 miles west northwest of Monroe, LA. It was moving towards the north northwest at 9 mph with winds down to 35 mnph.
Update #2: At 11 AM EDT Friday, Tropical Depression ISAAC was centered25 miles northeast of Ft. Smith, AR. It was mmoving towards the north northwest at 11 mph.
