RAINFALL AND STORM SURGE ARE MAIN CONCERNS WITH ISAAC

Surprisingly, Tropical Storm ISAAC has still not beomes a hurricane. The drier air to the east and north of the storm may be part of the reason it has not intensified. At 8 AM EDT Tuesday, the storm was centered 1205 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. It was moving at northwest at only 7 mph with 70 mph winds.

Even though that was 52 years ago, I still find it hard to believe such a powerful hurricane like that could fizzle so fast.
