TROPICAL STORM ISAAC AIMS AT LEEWARD ISLANDS

Tropical Storm ISAAC has changed little since Tuesday afternoon. At 8 PM AST Wednesday, ISSAC was centered 65 miles southwest of Guadeloupe with 45 mph winds. It was moving towards the west at 21 mph.

The ridge of high pressure over the Bahamas is forecast to keep ISAAC just south of Hispaniola. Upon reaching Cuba over the weekend, computer models are disagreeing on the outcome.

Strange as it sounds, this is a case where the weather map resembles a football game. The high pressure ridge across the Bahamas and south Florida is our defensse. ISAAC has the ball. He’s looking to see if a break in the defense will occur anywhere between the Bahamas and Florida. If there is none, he will continue west northwest in the vicinity of Cuba or the Florida Straits towards the Gulf of Mexico. We are still in athe first quarter of ISAAC’s ball game. We won’t know until the second half of this game what adjustments, if any, will be made by our defense.
