DEPRESSION #8 IS NOW TROPICAL STORM GORDON

As of 5 PM Thursday, Tropical Storm GORDON was centered 745 miles east northeast of Bermuda moving towards the east northeast at 17 mph. Maximum sustained winds were 65 mph.

Tropical Storm GORDON may increase to hurricane strength Friday. Increasing wind shear and an approaching cold front from the west will probably be weakening GORDON to tropical storm strength Saturday so that it may be passing near or over the Azores Islands Sunday transitioning to a post-tropical/extratropical storm by Monday.
