HURRICANE ERNESTO MAKING LANDFALL SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT

At 11 PM EDT Wednesday, Hurricane ERNESTO was centered 40 miles east northeast of Chetumal, Mexico, moving towards the west at 15 mph. Peak winds were 85 mph.

Hurricane ERNESTO will weaken to tropical storm strength over Yucatan Wedneday morning, but should regain hurricane strength over the Bay of Campeche. After a second landfall in Mexico on Friday, mountainous terrain will cause ERNESTO to dissipate by late Friday.
