HEAT PLUS HUMIDITY IS THE RECIPE FOR SHOWERS

The tropics are quiet, but our summer showers are around.>

In most years Jacksonville’s rainy season doesn’t begin until June. This year our rains have jumped the gun. Rainfall from each afternoon thundershower will vary greatly from neighborhood to neighborhood. A garden-type rain gauge is a good investment to make so you can know what has happened when you are not looking out the window, or not at home. This afternoon, I received a 30 minute downpour in Beauclerc that measured 3/4 inches. That brings the total for the month of May to a whopping 11.41 inches. Not many places around northeast Florida got more rain; but several got less, mostly around our beaches.
