POSSIBLE STORM NEAR YUCATAN

Will low pressure become tropical storm DON?

The National Hurricane Center has said there’s a 80 percent chance the low circulation over the northwest Caribbean will become a tropical storm within 48 hours.
It would have to be a rapid development while it is still largely still over the warm Caribbean waters. If it skirts the north Yucatan coast, it will be over sufficient Gulf of Mexico waters to grow well into a tropical storm today. Atmospheric steering currents would take it across the western Gulf to Mexico or extreme south Texas by week’s end.

Today’s downpours over Florida are not connected with the tropical system south of Cuba. These showers will spread northward across our area today through Thursday. High pressure will build in from the Atlantic on Friday in time to turn our skies back to blue for much of the weekend.
