RICHARD A HURRICANE BRIEFLY, THAT’S ALL!

Richard to walk the line between land and water.

High pressure systems over the central and eastern parts of the U.S. have brought a taste of fall here at the same time they are keeping the hurricane threat far to the south. Tropical storm Richard’s main threats have been mainly to the Caribbean coasts of Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize and their offshore islands.

Richard will probably not regain tropical storm strength upon reaching the Gulf of Mexico because of middle and upper level wind shear and the approach of the next cold front, plus another push of cooler air into the northern Gulf of Mexico towards the end of next week.
