PAULA TO TAKE A SHORT TRIP NORTH

Hurricane to be downgraded over Cuba on Friday.

Monday’s forecast of Paula’s meandering over the northwest Caribbean through the weekend has been updated. Today, the ridge of high pressure along latitude 30 shifted eastward which should allow Paula to drift north of the 20 degree parallel. Upon reaching latitude 22.5 north, Paula will encounter the strong upper level westerly winds that will steer the hurricane to its demise over the mountainous terrain of Cuba.

Meanwhile, northern Florida will continue rainless through mid-October as we enter the beginning of our autumn dry season. November is normally our driest month of the year with an average rainfall of only 2.34 inches.
