GFS Forecast for October 1 - Stage for a Major Hurricane!

I’ve been concerned about the long range forecasts since September 14, and as of this date (September 23) the models still indicate a large low pressure system over the western Caribbean or western Cuba around Friday, October 1.

With a north-south frontal system lined up for the east coast of the U.S. plus a potential hurricane in the Caribbean, I’d advise coastal residents of states stretching from Florida northward along the eastern seaboard to New England to review their hurricane preparation list. This is not the time to be lulled into complacency by the storms that have turned away from us so far this season.
