DANIELLE KNOCKED DOWN A FEW NOTCHES

West Atlantic produces hostile conditions for tropical systems.

Dry air invaded Danielle’s western flank today weakening the hurricane back to tropical storm status. The storm is moving towards the west northwest at 18 mph and will be entering less hostile upper winds the next few days; therefore, it should regain hurricane strength as moisture wraps back into the eroded portion of the storm. Ocean swells from the hurricane will be reaching the Atlantic beaches of the U.S. this weekend with a threat of dangerous surf and rip currents.

An upper level cyclonic circulation centered over Cuba has restricted storm development over tropical wave growth with a westerly shear over the Caribbean.
