TROPICAL DEPRESSION 5 FORMS IN THE GULF

Tropical moisture converges around the low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico west of Naples.

The cloud pattern has wrapped around the low pressure circulation centered 280 miles west of Naples, FL at 7:30 PM Tuesday. It is expected to head on a track similar to BONNIE two weeks ago. Strong easterly shear in the upper atmosphere should keep this system this system barely tropical storm strength with a somewhat uncertain track as it heads in the direction of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Tropical storm warnings have been issued along the northern Gulf coast from Destin, FL to Intracoastal City, LA.
