HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT FOR COLIN

Upper atmosphere (yellow) has a mine field in Colin's path.

Colin may continue to be an “on again-off again” type storm. Upper level lows have dry, sinking air which restricts convective actions. Farther north the westerlies across the Great Lakes and northeast US have a strong shear towards the east northeast.

The big question: Can Collin escape these pitfalls and head rapidly towards the northeast after the weekend? Between the oil spill and tropical storms Alex and Bonnie, this looks like a wild hurricane season.
