Gales in the Atlantic

A developing low pressure center in the open Atlantic centered 500 miles SSW of Bermuda and 800 miles east of Jacksonville, has a 30% chance of becoming ALEX, the first named storm of the 2010 season. There is good outflow to the north and northeast of the center where winds are gale force because of the pressure gradient between the low and a high pressure to the north and northeast.

There is no threat to land other than increasing surf on parts of the US east coast.
