The tropics are quiet as we enter the last seven days of September.
As we head into October, summer-type showers become scarce, Showers will be mainly along the coast during night and morning hours because of warm water temps. Showers will be spotty inland during late morning and afternoon due to daytime heating.
While El Nino is a strong shear factor reducing hurricanes, in winter it is related to heavy rain episodes due to frontal boundaries over the southern US and Gulf of Mexico. If El Nino continues into the spring, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes can be more active.
