Non-tropical low in western Gulf and stationary creates wet pattern

Southwesterly winds and an upper level low over Texas combined with a stationary front stretching eastward to central Florida are causing a showery weekend over the deep south.
The once powerful hurricane FRED in the eastern Atlantic has been whittled down to only 40 mph and has been nearly stationary. Elsewhere tropical storm development is unlikely.
